Scottsdale Water is one of the most advanced municipal water systems in the country. The Citizen Water Academy provides an inside look at all aspects of Scottsdale Water utilities and innovative technologies.

Course Overview

The five-week course takes participants inside our state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrates daily operations from lab functions to water main repair, and explains all facets of Scottsdale Water operations, planning, and policies.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants must attend a minimum of four nights from 4/4:30-7:30 p.m.

Topics covered include:

  • Drinking water treatment and distribution
  • Water quality testing
  • Recycled water treatment and uses
  • Long-term water supply planning

During the fifth night of the academy, participants tour Scottsdale's Advanced Water Treatment Facility - the only direct potable reuse plant in Arizona (and one of only three in the country) - and participate in a taste test of ultrapure recycled water!

Registration is currently closed and will open on Feb. 27 at 9 a.m.
